Weekend Wonderings

It’s Father’s Day tomorrow, which in our house tends to mean that Philip gets to buy himself whatever the latest bit of woodwork kit he’s lusting after and we all say that it’s from Stella. This also applies for his birthday (next weekend the selfish sod) and Christmas (not soon. Thank goodness.)

Stella and I will be getting our craft on this morning though – we did a morning of painting earlier in the week where I managed to get handprints for the cards of all the grandfathers – 3 – and the great grandfathers – 4! – but forgot to get one for her actual father…. Good one, Alsopp. So out come the edible paints again. Not properly yummy edible, I should say. Flour, water and food colouring edible, which, yuck.

And I will also make a cake. *Drumroll*

This cake

I have never made this cake before. It is possible that I am insane. But it is the weekend, I have had all the sleep, and I fancy a challenge.

Who’s baking with me? Who’s Doing Stuff this weekend? And who’s sitting on their bums with a cuppa/burger/cider* in hand and therefore actually winning at weekends?

*delete according to time of day

How does one get a cake so GLOSSY?! I have my dad around for dinner tomorrow… God knows what I’ll actually cook – potentially just cake. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads x

Omigod, that cake looks unbelievable. Nearly licked the screen. How did yours turn out Aisling?? Was it THAT perfect?!
I was a naughty daughter this Father’s Day. I sent a card and phoned but instead spent the weekend getting drunk with my fabulous mates to celebrate a) my birthday and b) a new job. Gemma will know that this story ends messily…

Hello! We're Clare, Aisling and Anna and welcome to a corner of the world where smart, flawed, real women talk about the bigger picture; about their experiences, stories and opinions on all aspects of being a woman today, from marriage to feminism to pretty, too.
