*FATHER OF THE BRIDE KLAXON*
I am loving Carly’s AOP so hard and not only for the FotB reference. Non-pro photo submissions are some of my favourites when it comes to AOP, the love and glee just seems extra sharp and shiny… and this from the superbly elegant and totally knock-out Carly is no exception.
Happy AOP Friday, readers.
I wasn’t going to send our AOP in until I had received the professional photographs back, but then I changed my mind. On a quiet afternoon at work, when I should have been planning next term, I flicked back through the photos that were sent to us by our wonderful family friend, Nick and it all clicked!
I always kind of knew that my AOP would have my Dad in it. I’ve been a sucker for the father/daughter moments in a wedding since watching Father of the Bride aged 8. I even watched it the night before the wedding ensconced in my suite with my bridesmaids, when all of those weepy moments in the film took on a whole new meaning and set of emotions now that our day was only hours away. Whilst this photo is of me and my amazing Dad, that isn’t the reason I have chosen it. The reason I have chosen it is because I can remember exactly what I saw at that moment as you see that smile spreading across my face. The hotel manager had kept me well hidden from the top of the aisle and closed the doors as they lined me up and straightened my dress, so I hadn’t had the slightest glimpse of the room before me and I was so looking forward to taking everything in but when those doors opened I only saw one person. Mark had turned around (naughty boy!) and was grinning the biggest grin at me from the bottom of the aisle. I didn’t see anyone else, didn’t hear the harp or notice the flowers, I just saw him. My fiancé, waiting for me to become his wife. It is the only conscious memory that I have from the ceremony but what a memory, what a husband and what a day!
