{IWD2014} Rise

By Aisling

Think. Think before you speak, before you do, before you commit. Think about how you yourself would feel, on the receiving end of those words, that action, that promise. Treat those around you with the respect and consideration I hope they will give to you.

Be the bigger person. Don’t fight for the last word, don’t use sarcasm as a weapon. Rise. Rise above and drift far away. You’ll always be remembered as fair and just, and what better way to be thought of?

Think, yes. Stop and think. But don’t let that stop you doing. Still be impulsive, take leaps, be brave. Bungee jump. Cave dive. Catch that spider in a glass. Order something new when you go out for dinner. Watch a film in a language you can’t speak. Your leaps will be your own – infinitely high and powerful. They’re not to be compared with the leaps of others.

Be your best. Your best, not anyone else’s. If you want to be an astronaut – do it. Be the best damn astronaut on (or off) the planet. If you want to write, to clean windows, to cook, to care. Do it. Do it and be the very best that you can.

I particularly love the comment on being your best, not anyone else’s. Wonderful advice.

Your writing just makes me want to be a better person.

This, especially “Your leaps will be your own – infinitely high and powerful. They’re not to be compared with the leaps of others” is utterly perfect.

So beautiful, the whole thing. That sentence stuck out to me too. As well as as the bit about being the best *you* (comparison is a witch).

    Lovely.

But can I please put in a plea for KILL the spider with the glass (or indeed anything else)?

    Thanks
