Hashtag Bookswap

We’re reposting this today as your ‘last chance saloon’ to get involved with the wonder that is #bookswap…If you haven’t already put your name down, you have until Monday to do so, when the book elves we have working away on the magical spreadsheets will simply refuse to take any more additions. The wee divas.

You will receive your #bookswap QUESTIONNAIRE OF JOY/DOOM* (*delete as  appropriate) by the end of February and then the real fun can begin…

*****************************************************

One whole year ago, some people swapped some books with some other people. Some people were friends already, some had never met, some still haven’t. Books went to Dubai and to Ireland and to Australia. They went to Glasgow and Devon and Birmingham. Almost one hundred books, sent forth to bring joy to others by you lovely bunch. You remember, don’t you? The Great AOW Book Swap 2013.

Source

The question is, are you in for 2014′s Even Greater AOW Book Swap?

It’s going to work the same way as last year -

- You comment on this post with a variation of ‘ME! YES! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I’M IN! ME ME ME!’

- We throw all your names, beautifully written on peach paper in navy ink, obvs, into a very stylish hat. (We’ll probably borrow one of Ellie’s. She has some v. fashion forward ones.)

- We send you a questionnaire to fill out, all about the books that made you, you. This was my absolute favourite part of the whole thing last year. Apart from my perfect package of books and chocolate from the lovely Carly. Lucky, I was.

We randomly assign each of you someone fabulous to send a book to.

- You send your person a book that you think they’ll love. or a book that you love. A book that will make them think, make them sing, make them cry…. you get the picture.

- You receive a magical, wonderful, perfect book in the post from your person. EVERYBODY WINS.

So, the rules. There aren’t any, really. The book does not have to be new, it doesn’t have to wrapped like the gold necklace in Love Actually (‘what are you going to do next?! DIP IT IN YOGHURT?!’). It simply has to be posted to your recipient by the date we’ll give you, with love. Nothing more, nothing less. We will, of course, take into account whether you are able to post overseas as we did last year.

Readers, GO. Go forth and comment.

Books books books books booooooooooooks…….

Welcome Yulia! Oh, Amanda, what a shock! I’m so, so pleased to hear she’s doing well, what a wee trooper. I hope you’re recovering and that Yulia continues to make amazing progress as I’m sure she will.

      Congratulations to you and yours,

P.S not too late for bookswap, don’t worry! x

Thanks! I am recovering well, these weeks are hard because she is at the neonatoloy unit at the hospital and we are home, but she is doing really well, every day there is new progress. I am pumping milk every 3 hrs, to bring it to her. We visit her two times per day. She is now in a real baby crib (open) instead of an incubator and she was taken off all the monitors yesterday (at 35 wks) since she is able to regulate her temperature and all her vital signs are well and stable. She has shown us to be very strong and alert from the start, the pediatricians are very happy with her . It is just heartbreaking to have her away, but it is for the best, and she is growing fast. I Will write the whole story soon, I guess she really wanted to see the world, after such a long wait ;) .

I will spread the news for the book swap (exciting!!! ) since the more the merrier!

Amanda that’s (mostly) wonderful news – Yulia sounds like an absolute heroine. I’m sorry that you can’t be with her full-time, it must be so very hard, but hopefully those days are just around the corner.

So much love to you all xxx
