Running a wedding dress boutique – testimonials

Happy New Year! I hope you’re all having the most fabulous 2014 already! I really am, the Boutique is busy with appointments, and the main way brides hear about me is from good old fashioned word of mouth which, to me, is the best way! I thought I’d keep this one short and sweet this month, mainly because I don’t like gushing over myself and I cant take compliments very well – but one of the best parts about this job is when a bride sends me a photo of her wedding day and a testimonial.

Ten times out of ten I cry, firstly because of how beautiful she looks and secondly because of her lovely choice of words describing her experience of the Boutique. I try to hold it back, but alas – my eyes just can’t help but leak!

On the Boutique’s website the testimonials page is ever growing which is an absolute joy and I also feel that my list of friends is growing too. I’m honoured to be part of such a special time in a Bride’s life and for this post, I thought I’d share a couple of those lovely testimonials with all of you. And to all the future brides out there, I hope you all have the most fabulous time finding your wedding dress.

“I had no idea what I wanted my wedding dress to look like. Not the first clue. I guess I always knew that it would be an act of fate that led me to find the perfect dress – the ONE – as so many people had told me. And that’s exactly what happened. I heard about a new bridal shop opening up in Penarth and as I was working just around the corner, I decided to pop in and see if it had anything to offer. Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique had SO much to offer! A gorgeous elegant boutique, filled with Rachel’s personality and passion. Rachel was so welcoming and full of fun, I knew immediately that this little shop would give my mum and I the dress shopping experience we had been waiting for. I booked an appointment there and then for the following week. After coffee and cake and a morning of trying on every dress in the shop, I had found Rose. The One. A vintage dress that was everything I didn’t even realise I’d been dreaming of! I loved this dress. Given the name ‘Rose’ by Rachel (she names all her dresses!), due to the flower design featured on the back, it was different to any wedding dress I had seen before. ‘She’ had a 6 ft detachable train- wow! Rachel helped and advised on veils and accessories, and between us we decided on a bespoke birdcage veil to be designed by Claire Hill. We then added a handmade traditional veil along the way to complete the look. I left the shop on cloud nine and it didn’t stop there. Every fitting at the Boutique was filled with chat and fun and lots of advice! I can honestly say that walking into that new little shop in Penarth that day enriched my whole wedding experience. I felt wonderful in my dress on the day, so comfortable, so me! And Rachel gave me the confidence to go for it and just be ME. Thank you Rach, I will be round for more coffee and cake very soon, with my photo album in hand!”

“The wedding dress choosing is a truly momentous moment in a girl’s life, and when we were planning our small wedding ceremony I wanted a vintage theme from the outset. We work within the wedding industry ourselves therefore had our firm favourite suppliers already in the bag. Rachel was one of them, without hesitation. Unlike the majority of brides I left it quite last minute to go and get my dress… this I believe was down to a quiet confidence that I didn’t have to worry too much because Rachel would have the perfect one for me. How right I was! Rachel’s boutique is a little piece of Vintage Heaven, and I adore the feel within it, from the decor to the trinkets, the lighting and most importantly the dresses! Rachel is delightful and charming, advising where needed, reassuring and fun. My daughter and I had the most amazing time exploring and Rachel closes the boutique which made the experience feel all the more special for us. We had tea and cakes and lots of giggles. I remember asking Rachel if she always had an idea of which dress would suit each bride when they came to her and then trusted in this perception when I asked Rachel to choose the fouth dress to try on. I wasn’t convinced that the dress she pointed out would be suitable, it really was not what I had in mind! It was lace! (not sure) and it was knee length! (being quite small I thought a shorter dress would make me look smaller!) I tried it on after a little wibble and was totally blown away when I looked at my reflection. It was perfect and my decision to have ‘Dolly’ as my fairy castle dress was made. I was thrilled beyond words. Rachel has a unique approach to brides and she should be very, very proud of her achievements so far. I have recommended her services and the boutique to all my own brides and will continue to do so. It was a pleasure Rachel and I am also very proud to now call you one of my good friends, you are one in a million. xx”

“Ladies you must have heard of the famous Coco Chanel quote – “A girl should be two things, classy and fabulous” and that’s exactly what the Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique is – ‘classy and fabulous’.

My first visit to the boutique in search of the perfect dress for my wedding day smashed my expectations of wedding dress shopping.  I stepped into a sophisticated, girlie, boutique where Rachel made me feel very welcome and at ease with her sparkly personality.  It was such a special experience due to the appointment being private and not rushed.  Rachel took an instant interest in my ideal dress and wedding plans, she even offered some amazing ideas herself.

I was in awe of each and every dress from short vintage dresses, simplistic and classic dresses to big elaborate dresses and best of all they are all one off designs.  I found my dress straight away and loved her the moment I put her on – a gorgeous white lace dress with a handmade veil to match designed by award winning, Welsh Designer, Helen Rhiannon.   An added extra in the boutique are the gorgeous accessories, shoes and silk bouquets on offer, it just made my experience that bit more exciting!

Guaranteed to meet everyone’s budget I highly recommend Rachel Burgess Bridal Boutique – I love it so much I still pop in now to see the new dresses Rachel has available.

A classy shop with a fabulous lady!

Best of luck with all you do for the future x”
