This week’s Weekend Wonderings is short but sweet, inspired by the marvellous Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. It exists to inspire people to practise kindness and pass it on to others.
Here is a list of random acts of kindness that you could carry out today….you could donate used books to a library, you could volunteer to pick up an elderly person’s shopping, it could be as simple as paying for a coffee for the single mum in the corner of the cafe.
The site has some beautiful quotes about kindness. I’ve put my favourites below.
“Unexpected kindness is the most powerful, least costly, and most underrated agent of human change.”
Bob Kerrey (1943)
American Politician
“The words of kindness are more healing to a drooping heart than balm or honey.”
Sarah Fielding (1710-1768)
Novelist
“How lovely to think that no one need wait a moment. We can start now, start slowly, changing the world. How lovely that everyone, great and small, can make a contribution toward introducing justice straightaway. And you can always, always give something, even if it is only kindness!”
Anne Frank (1929-1945)
Diarist
Go on readers. Do something kind this weekend.
