Weekend Wonderings

Lovely Hollie of Tulips and Tea has, in the last four weeks, moved with her family, cat and furniture across the North Sea from Belfast to Manchester. She’s also, as if that wasn’t *quite* enough for one month, planned a gathering for AOW readers next month – that’s SOON! It’s a chance for you guys to all come together, drink tea, eat fabulous cake and get to know each other in ‘real life’; either for the first time or the second/third/fifteenth time!

AOW readers with littles – fear not. There are cakes for you too. Hollie will explain all…

It’s pretty hard to not have noticed that there’s been something of a baby boom going on in the Any Other Woman community of late. You’ll find the evidence in blog posts, on instagram photos, twitter feeds as well as our sick and food encrusted clothes.

A long time ago – I think I was either still pregnant or living a newborn bubble – the idea for meet up with a difference was born.

It would be a meet up with babies in tow.

We said we’d all meet up with our babies for a lovely catch up and putting the world to rights session over tea and cake, without having to worry about those of us with wee ones finding babysitters!

In short, we would be, ‘Any Other Aunties’ to the next generation.

Finally, it’s happening and you are all invited – baby or no baby, we don’t discriminate. Any one of you can be an Auntie, in fact the more the merrier.

Now I’m all moved and settled I’ve finally got my finger out and can give you details…

The details

Saturday Oct 5th 1pm-4pm

Hotel La Tour, Birmingham. View map here.

Afternoon tea (you can see a review here)

We have a private dining room booked which can fit 20 (plus babies). There’s plenty of buggy space as the main restaurant will be closed at lunchtime, so no need to worry about that either. Baby changing etc is available and I’ll try to remember to bring along a bottle warmer – hopefully all bases will be covered then!

£18.95 per person, plus cocktails etc if you fancy them

How to sign up

As there’s only 20 spaces I’m afraid it will be on a first come first served basis. I have the names of everyone who registered interest already, but everyone else leave a comment below and I’ll get in touch if you have a place. Also, ladies if you said you would like to come and now can’t please let me know so I can let someone else have the place.

If anyone has dietary requirements could you mention them in your comment too, as I need to let the hotel know in the next couple of weeks.

At the request of Laura, could you kindly let me know if you will be bringing any little people along with you.

Please leave your comment before Monday 16th September so I have a chance to sort the final details.

I hope to see lots of you there!

I don’t have any little ones but if there is still space I would love to meet some of the AOW-ettes :) Particularly as I have promised myself to be brave and attend a meet-up soon…(brave due to shyness not scariness, you all seem lovely)! xx

I want to join with Ava, I’m just not sure how I am going to explain it to my husband. Taking Ava to Birmingham to meet some internet friends, when money is tight…. Could you send me the email please, and I will ponder what to do. Are there still spaces available? xx

Hello! We're Clare, Aisling and Anna and welcome to a corner of the world where smart, flawed, real women talk about the bigger picture; about their experiences, stories and opinions on all aspects of being a woman today, from marriage to feminism to pretty, too.
