Any Other Photo {Ashleigh and Rodney}

There is so much beauty in this AOP. It radiates out, so that you can almost feel it. The dress (and the bride inside it!), those flowers, the stunning windows, the gorgeous groom.

And then those smiles.

That, there, is happiness defined.

Happy weekend readers.

It was a real struggle picking my AOP; there have been so many lovely ones throughout my engagement that I didn’t think mine could live up to them. What I was most worried about was the story that goes behind each gorgeous photo.

I’m not the best with touchy feely emotions especially not infront of 100 people which is why before the wedding I had been so worried about the ceremony, would I cry? Would I be so shy that I would spend the ceremony looking at my toes? Would everybody find our Unitarian ceremony a little bit too out there? Would I trip walking down the aisle? Would I somehow ruin the moment that all this planning had been building up to. But in the end the ceremony was my favourite part of the day and I think part of the loveliness of this photo is the surprise and relief that we had not only made it through the ceremony but that we had loved absolutely every moment of it.

What I really love about this photo is that it brings me straight back to the moment my new husband and I walked out of the ceremony room into the glorious sunshine, sunshine we were convinced we wouldn’t get. I can hear the Ghanaian High Life music and all our friends and family whooping and cheering. I can smell the scented candles and flowers.  I can feel my dress tight around my ribs, my hand being squeezed by my handsome man and the grin almost splitting my face. I can see my Dad in his kilt and my new father in law in traditional Ghanaian Kente just as we had spent weeks talking about. Everybody is winking and smiling at us as we leave the room and I have never felt as loved or as happy as I do in this moment.

    Absolutely beautiful. I knew your AOP would be a good one after seeing some of the pics you’d blogged from other bits of your wedding.

    Wow, this has actually made me well up at my desk. Your joy is completely radiant, infectiously, deliriously radiant. It makes me feel like I was there, because the joy just leaps from the screen. OH SO happy, what a gorgeous memory to have.

    I’ve just had to come back to this to say that your dress is SO pretty! I was too caught up in the joy to say that earlier but it is quite quite gorgeous.
