Weekend Wonderings

This is one of my favourite “quick read” blogs.

Six word stories.  It does exactly what it says it’ll do.

It was inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s challenge.  Read the six-word story he wrote.  It’ll break your heart.

I love how these stories communicate so much feeling, through so few words.  Other favourites include:

“Two wives.  One funeral.  No tears”.

“Imagined adulthood.  Gained adulthood.  Lost imagination”

And my favourite…

“Friends.  Liquid confidence.  Admit love.  Marriage”

Wow, Hemmingways one brought tears to my eyes – who’d have thought a six word story would be so moving?! I think you should try your hand at it Anna, you’d be really good :) xx

Only reading your comment did I get the impact of Hemingway’s story.
I feel a dunce. An over privileged dunce because I simply thought ‘parents were given so many pairs, these ones never got around to being used.’

Hemmingway’s almost made me cry, amazing how those little words can say so much. I really love these.

Not sure how I’ve never come across 6 Word Stories before but Wow! How powerful!
Struck by the fact there seem to be more whistful and sad that positive and affimational though…
Makes me want to think of happy 6 word stories :)

I love that last one. Maybe because it took quite a bit of liquid confidence for me and my husband to get together after almost 3 years!!

Am going to bookmark that blog for 5 min train reads though, thanks.

Hello! We're Clare, Aisling and Anna and welcome to a corner of the world where smart, flawed, real women talk about the bigger picture; about their experiences, stories and opinions on all aspects of being a woman today, from marriage to feminism to pretty, too.
