AOW do Race For Life 2013

Crysta and Bex made goodie bags. Yep, you heard me. PERSONALISED goodie bags. Amaze.

We ditched the group warm-up in favour of Gemma's 'Jillian Michaels' routine, complete with *motivational* American accent.

Auntie Katielase. Every kid should have one.

Because lunging is absolutely the most flattering look you can go for in a group photo.

Action shot of Anita, Yanthe, Gemma and Katie's pigtails. Note also, THAT GIRL'S TIGHTS!

Katie and Yanthe actual SPRINTING to the finish line. Mentalists/heroines.

Gemma and Anita trying and failing to not yell 'WHERE'S THE CAKE YOU SAID THERE'D BE CAKE?!' at the amazing Frances and her lovely husband Alan, who had indeed bought cake. All the cake.

The Cakes. Frances makes incredible cakes. And is so lovely. And really pretty. And super clever. *jealous face*

Tutus 'til the very end. Crysta and Bex, hardcoring it to the finish line.

No, YOU'RE wearing a (beautifully made) child's headband and looking like a muppet.

Post--race, pre-burgers. OHMIGODTHEBURGERS.

I’d love to be able to show you pictures of the sensational dinner we had after the race, but every single one of us was too busy ramming our faces with the best burgers, fries and milkshakes (lime milkshake! LIME!) in the whole wide world to take any. A humongous thank you to the brilliant Mr. Yanthe and Mr. Katielase (or ‘Rich’ and ‘Gareth’ as I believe they are known as in the Real World) for the pictures they both took, and to the lovely Frances and the band of menfolk for cheering us on in the billion degree heat. It was a fabulous day, we raised MORE THAN ONE THOUSAND POUNDS OMG SQUEEEEEEEE and I loved every second. It was an honour, ladies. See you next year?

Love every single photo! You all rock :) Katie that first picture is brilliant, everything is pink and Gems I am so sad I missed your Jillian Michaels warm up. Clearly this will have to be repeated next year so I can join in xxx

ps LIME milkshakes sound amazing, I want one now!

Next year? Yes, I’m in! Next time I’ll even try and run it instead of ambling along. Thank you for organising it, Aisling. It was such a wonderful day. And over £1000? Thank you so, so much everyone for the support!

And, Frances, I still think you should open a bakery. Your cupcakes are amazing.

Katie I’d like your hair please. Thanks.

Amazing ladies, and not one of you looks all red faced and out of puff at the end.

Those goodie bags are amazing – Crysta and Bex you’re a fantastic team!! So talented.

I’ll stop gushing now. I’m not even sure I’m making sense. Well done!! xx

PS Aisling, I may have also insisted that the lovely bow head band will in fact fit me. Possibly both at the same time… because more is always better wouldn’t you agree?

It’s very important to note that we insisted on waiting for a good hour in the shade after the race before taking the after photo! When we crossed the finish line, my face was the colour of Aisling’s leggings, I promise.

I’m definitely in next year, as long as the burgers and milkshake remain a fixture. My actual favourite moment of the run was Anita shouting “milkshake!” as a motivational spur to keep running.

      Love you all

      KL

PS: I was seriously unnerved by my own face when I clicked onto Any Other Woman this morning. Too much grinning pink.

PPS: I am transfixed by Gemma’s thigh in the lunging photo. Serious leg envy!

Arrrggghhh this makes me so excited all over again! Such a bloody lovely day, even if it did involve running! Yes, yes, yes to doing it again next year, but only if Frances promises to bring more of those delicious cakes (I second Crysta’s bakery request)! And really, the amount we raised is astonishing; take that cancer.

Ahh, it was an amazing day – well done everyone!! Next year I’m going to join in the running though – there will be burgers again yes?

Also, on a shallow note you girls all have THE best legs – look at that lunging!

Haha Katie the ‘milkshake’ scream will go down in AOW history I feel!! (And btw mine was mint choc chip and it rocked!)
Huge thanks to Crysta and Bex for the amazing gift bags, to Frances for the cake (sosososo yummy), to Aisling and Katie for organising and to Gemma for forcing me on at the end (‘Anita if you break I’ll break!!!!’) and everyone else who cheered us on, sponsored us and was generally fab. Already waiting for next year…
