Weekend Wonderings

Happy Saturday! Today we’re doing things a bit differently for Weekend Wonderings, and handing over to Laura of The Mrs Makes, who has a cure for all of those mourning the end of AOW Book Swap – a new project! I’ll let Laura tell you all about it….

Hello lovely AOW-ers!  I’m dead excited to be allowed by Anna, Aisling and Clare to ask you all to be involved in a new project I’m running called Recipe Swap. Essentially, I was so sad about the looming end of Anna’s Heart Swap and the AOW Book Swap that I turned into a bit of a Moaning Myrtle on twitter about my need to set up another sharing project. A few tweets later, the idea of Project Recipe Swap was born.

This project has been so exciting to plan, eagerly requested and I hope is as mouth-wateringly anticipating as I think it is!

So today, I am kicking off Project Recipe Swap with the deadline for first sign-up as Mother’s Day (10th March) as a little nod to all those women in our lives who have lovingly taught us their heirloom recipes, let us lick the cake spoon and learnt their favourites by heart.

I want to hear from you, lovely readers. Would you share your favourite recipe? Will you teach another reader your go-to dish or let them in on a family secret? I want to celebrate the variety of readers we have out there be it culturally, regionally or just in tastes!

This project will run for the entirety of 2013, and gives you the opportunity to share a recipe with your partner and, hopefully, the entire readership of The Mrs Makes and AOW.

Here’s the how-to for getting involved!

  • Email me at laura@themrsmakes.com or comment here or on my blog post telling me that you want in by the 10th March!
  • I’ll send you a brief questionnaire about dietary requirements and allergies.
  • I will then match you up with a partner
  • Download the recipe card and complete it. Perhaps include a little note to explain why you chose this recipe and what it means to you
  • Send to your partner!
  • *optional* include a picture, taster or key ingredient of your recipe to give a hint of things to come.
  • Email me with your verdicts/reviews and pictures of the recipe and I’ll share them all for Project Recipe Swappers to create their own recipe card and put on file.
  • The best entry of the month will be featured over on Any Other Woman for all of their readers!

Who’s in for cake-sharing then? *disclaimer – cake is not compulsory*

Do you SEND the cake? Because that could be tricky….

Potentially I’m in (only if you match me with Katylkh who seems to have a similar view on food to me. ie cake) but can’t work out how I’d send a cake in the post without it becoming a tragic bashed crumby thing.

He he, maybe we are sole mates?

But a Poundland tupperware to put your cake pieces in? Then photograph/ eat the rest if the cake?

P.S. Laura I am in on this. You know that already right?

okay yes as long as there’s CAKE. Or biscuits at a push. I dangle my fairly easy to transport Sweetshop Brownies with marshmallow, crunchie and butterscotch chunks. I think it would post easier then my triple lemon cake….
