The One You’ve All Been Waiting For.

It’s here! It’s here! It’s heeerrrrreeeee! We have got a treat for you this fine January morning, readers. No more ‘humbug, it’s not Christmas anymore, do I HAVE to take my tree down?!’ around here, no Siree. (By the way, YES. You do have to take your tree down. Come on, now.)

Anyway, where was I? OH YES. It’s here! Bella’s Wedding! Here! On AOW! (My exclamation key is going to break in a minute. Must.calm.down.)

There’s very little I can tell you about the fantasmogorical day that was Bella and Fiachra’s wedding that would make sense, it would mostly just be squealing, waving my arms around, talking about the AMAZING CUCUMBER YOGHURT for an hour or so and then some super-emotional crying. Which does not a successful wedding report make.

So without further ado, over to Bella. Our Real Bride, now Mrs. Moloney. We love you.

The morning of our wedding feels like a dream. I remember thinking beforehand that I would have time to write thank you cards, call my grandma, pee – all of which just didn’t happen. Between the 8am breakfast (where my bridesmaid L took a salmon bagel to keep as a snack, forgetting about it until a week after the wedding) to the manicurist, hairdresser and photographer arriving, I don’t remember having a moment to myself, or even breathing properly.

I’d never been waited on, but that day I was, hand and foot – quite literally. My bridesmaids, mum and mother-in-law buzzed around, doing everything. My amazing friend Corie did a Starbucks run, my wonderful Orla made me feel like a beauty queen and bridesmaid L of the bagel fame safety pinned my spanx bodysuit and Wonderbra together, because the ridiculously expensive fastenings just didn’t work.

I can’t put the day into words properly, so decided not to. (Ed: See?! Not just me!)

 My highlights were:

  • Severin, from The Hepburn Collection, keeping me calm in a separate room and working wonders with my hair
  • A beautiful handmade blanket from my best friends
  • My new aunt-in-law lending me a stunning bracelet to wear, then giving it to me for my birthday the next day
  • Katharine Peachey from Peachey Photography running back from our reception to the coach drop off point, because she just knew we would want photos there – the woman is psychic I swear
  • Running 40 minutes late because the guest transport didn’t turn up… and still being at the church before the guests
  • Turning to my new husband after the ceremony and saying “so the caterer was ok with us being an hour behind?” to a look of utter terror and a “… I didn’t call her…”
  • The incredible feeling of bringing our family and friends – from so many countries – together.
  • A song, performed by my new aunts and uncles, about the two of us to the tune of ‘Ireland’s Call’
  • A gift of Penguin onesies, which we then danced in. My dress was IN my onesie…

I hope you enjoy this little video. In so many ways I felt you all there, you’ve made my journey over the past 18 months so incredible – thank you for all the advice, wise words, bottles of wine, virtual hugs and tweets of love.

Here’s to love – and a very wonderful 2013.

Love,

Mrs M x

AMAZING. Bella you look a hundred shades of WOWZERS (the hair! the lips! the foxtastic grin!) and I’m so delighted your day went so brilliantly well. You and F just look divine together and all the family and friends *sob* and ruddy bloody BAYWATCH….it’s too much to bear before 7:30am…. Thankyou so much for sharing every step of the way. I feel like we’ve really lived it with you. And I even got to try on some veils. There are no more words.

    Love you B!

Oh what a wonderful way to start the day. You look gorgeous, even the sky is beautiful for you. Favourite photo is right at the beginning arriving at the church the bright green of the trees, flash of red from the bus & a happy bride in her dress about to be married. Much married love to you both x

Oh golly. There are tears at the gym. I also feel like I was there. I love EVERYTHING about it. All AOW brides should have a soundtrack video (love the first song btw). It’s absolutely perfect. Perfectly perfect in every single way.

    Many lifetimes of happiness.

I saw that this was coming late last night on Twitter after a super busy day and was RIDICULOUSLY excited. As desperate as I was to look them up first thing, I waited and made a proper occasion of it with snacks and posh water (lime ice-cubes)….

Oh my. Oh my. Oh my. So much beauty and joy and magic and laughter and fun and gorgeous smiles and prettiness and frankly gorgeous guests and and and just wow…I am incoherent even in text from the “muchness” of it all (Anna K, feel free to pretend I used an appropriate Oxford English Dictionary word there instead).

Bella, I think I’m going to have to call you “Bellissimo” now :) Thank you for this xx

Okay, I’m WAY late on this. I also made myself late for work yesterday by watching it but didn’t have time to comment. Even though I’m late though, I just HAD to say how beautiful it was. Bella – you certainly lived up to your name, you were scorching old-school glamour there. And it looked like you had so much fun. Many congratulations.

  39. Posted January 11, 2013 at 11:47 am | Permalink

I am so overwhelmed by all of you – each comment made me smile, tear up a little and just thank my little cottons for AOW.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t have gotten to the big day in the semi-sane state I did without all of you – I love that you enjoyed the video and the songs! I wish I could reply to every comment (I might try this weekend!) but please do know that you made an insecure, lonely bride-to-be really, really happy in the months leading up to our wedding. The move away from our family and ‘non-virtual’ friends was really tough and without you all I honestly don’t know what I would have done.

Never doubt the power of a comment, a tweet, a wee text or email: you are all incredible and I hope I can be there for you all, when you need me, too. I have found myself in the last year thanks to this blog – and all of you.

    Love,

I am so so late with this, I am so sorry. I just watched it and it gave me goosebumps. What a glorious day in every way. It looked like a laughter-filled, glamorous, literary, musical, romantic extravaganza. And what luck with the weather! I had always thought it would be fab but that video just-outfabbed my wildest dreams. It has been great to be on this journey with you. Congrats to the both of you for a wonderful future, wishing you all the love and luck in the world, Rach xx
