Any Other Photo {Bex and Tom}

Every bride should be a limpet.  Not in personality, obviously, but in action, even if just a few seconds.  I love how this photograph is so unassuming yet tells so many stories.  We learn about each person, about what they were doing, and why.  The write-up Bex gives her sister (our very own Bella) makes me cry a little bit because families joining is often the hardest yet most meaningful thing about a marriage, and Bella does it effortlessly.

Photograph by Robert Workman.  Happy Friday, readers.  Over to you, Bex:

There are so many photos from our wedding which tell a story beyond first impressions.  I’m sure every bride feels that way and it’s probably a cliché but hey, as Suz, one of my bridesmaids likes to say, it wouldn’t be a cliché if it wasn’t true!

The one I’ve chosen brings out so many emotions for me.  You’ve got me in a typically un graceful goofy pose, hanging onto my new husband like a limpet (his words!).  Tom is grinning one of the biggest grins I’ve ever seen from him.   My sister, and maid of honour, Bella (of Adventures of a Wedding Belle fame), is doing something to Tom which none of us can work what is.  Or why.  I think she was welcoming him to the family and at the same time, fixing something.

That’s what she did the whole day.  She fixed, she did.  She did my hair, she did my makeup, she did my veil.  She fixed my hair, my makeup, my veil.  Her and Brother-to-be were COMPLETE stars.   My sister is being a sister to not only me, but to Tom.

It’s more than us though.  The door to my right closed on one of my bridesmaids, Shea, as she walked in down the aisle, which was re opened for us, but which threatened to close on me as I waited to enter – which made me giggle (as did my bridesmaids practically running down the aisle which meant Mum and I had to wait what felt like an aagggggggeeeee to enter with all the guests at the back laughing at us waiting! and seconds after this photo was taken, it closed on me again and I ended up holding it open with my foot for the receiving line).

My bridesmaids are all lined up next to Tom ready to hand out our flowers as favours for the guests.  Flowers which Tom and I first found in Luxembourg (where he grew up) at a summer fair, a week after we got engaged and then we searched the Internet for.  And I ordered them.  In French.  I don’t speak French so who knew what we were getting until they arrived! Flowers, which my Mum, Aunt, and one of my bridesmaids, Ruth, made our bouquets out of.

For me, this photo sums up the joy and happiness we felt at finally being husband and wife and the excitement to thank all our guests for coming.

This is just lovely, your words really do give us a little glimpse into your wedding day and your love for your sister. I’m guessing at 30 I’m a little too old to ask my parents for a sister yeah?! x

I love this! Your smile. Tom’s smile. They are exactly what it’s all about, you just look so happy-excited.

And I agree, sisters kick ass. I absolutely couldn’t have had the day I had without my little super sister, she was amazing and I bet you can’t wait to do the same for Bella very soon! :-)

Yey for weddings being about families joining. (And happy, smiling brides who are so thrilled to be married they can’t let go of their new husband’s arm!)

Every week I get a new favourite AOP! (And this one has the added bonus of making me squee with excitement that we’ll soon have Bella’s!)

Amy, I think we should attend Bella’s wedding as the paparazzi, getting hundreds of AOP-worthy pics…

I wish I knew what I was doing because it wasn’t getting something off his face…. I think I was trying to argue my point that we didn’t walk too quickly down the aisle… (we did, I lost a shoe)

The whole day was just brilliant, the meal later on was so fab and intimate, with stunning views of Tower Bridge: I think a full wedding report is in order!

Also, for the record, I wasn’t that great at being a MoH, not compared to the absolute kick ass-ness of her to me!!! X

Awww, you guys are so sweet, so jealous of the sister bond! Love the cheesy grin – cheesy grin brides are the best and yay for Limpet new wives!

Beautiful picture – I think lots of us here have been limpets too!! I love that you seem a little oblivious to whatever it is that Bella’s doing to Tom (at first I thought she was shmooshing his cheeks, which would have been hilarious!) and that grin… That there is proper I can’t control my face happiness!

I can tell I’m not alone in the whole wanting a sister things now, although my best friend maid of honour was equally fabulous at our wedding. You so obviously adore Bella and will no doubt be repaying the favour in a few short weeks – I bet you both can’t wait!

SO FLIPPING EXCITED! (Can you tell!?)
    Can’t wait for her AOP!
