Any Other Party: Take 2

Are you ready, readers? It’s time for an update.

The second Any Other Party is nigh! Yes, that’s right, folks, Team AOW have fixed a date and are busy talking all things party.  The only thing missing is YOU!

Date: Friday 14th September 2012

Location: Well, we can’t tell you here. The internet has ears, or something.  We’ve found a place that’s perfect for the Any Other Party.   It’s in London.  A little easier on the ears than last year for those intimate yet hilarious conversations, a great choice of drinks – whatever your poison, and easy to get to, wherever you’re coming from, even if it’s Scotland!

Yes, you. Especially you at the back.  You really are all welcome. We said it last year but it remains the same. We make friends with anybody. We want you all. Whether you’re a long time reader, a lurker, a wedding professional, another blogger, or just someone who pops in occasionally when you’ve run out of other things to look at on the internet, we want you there. We bang on about it all the time, but we’re about community, and all of you are part of that. So don’t be shy, we solemnly promise you that we will make every single one of you welcome.

To ensure it’s not just Team AOW shuffling round their handbags, G&T in hand, sharing the occasional packet of Wotsits, we need you. If you ask nicely, we’ll probably even share our Wotsits. We’re nice like that. In order to get your hands on a peachy invitation all you need to do is email us at .  This is first and foremost an event for our amazing readers, so please bear with us whilst we sort out the guest list. We’ll be talking about it on Twitter no doubt, feel free to join us with #AnyOtherParty.

As soon as the details are finalised and ready, you will be emailed with all of the location info so that you can get organising transport/accommodation/pre-party meet-ups so you don’t have to walk in on your own if you don’t want to. But we will leave no-one on the peripheries – we want to meet you ALL. Especially you. Did we mention that?  We’ll even leave the party to come and rescue you from the wintry streets, to walk in with you if you want.

There is a limit on numbers due to the size of the venue, but if you want to come, get in touch asap, yes?

And for those of you who can’t make it this time, don’t worry, there WILL be a next time. Sooner than you think.  We might even head up North to see you…

Team AOW x

I am out of the country! *commences highly overdramatic weeping and wailing*

I don’t suppose G will be too happy if I try to cut our holiday short by 3 days to come?!

Yes, yes, a million yes’s to coming up North to see us heathen bunch! I am very sad I won’t manage this year, but I will live vicariously through you all on twitter and await pictures with possibly more anticipation than I await this baby.

Ok. Maybe a slight exaggeration there, but it’s a close call. You know how much I love you all!

Oh boo hiss I can’t make it. I get married the next day so will be rather busy being pampered and whatnot.
I’m so upset that I will miss out, although I guess getting married should take precedence!
    Gosh darn it, *sad face*

Imagine letting something like getting married interfere with AOP plans….!

Yay! I’m free Boo to not being able to meet the above lovely ladies.

    I am there!

For anyone who is thinking that they’d like to go, but don’t really know if they’d have fun or whether anyone will talk to them, DON’T WORRY. The last AOP was one of the best nights of my year last year, I have never had so much fun with people I’d never met before, everyone was talking to everyone, everyone was interesting and interested. I was really anxious before I went in, so anxious in fact that I met two friends at the venue for dinner before hand and watched everyone go in. I then bribed them to stay around for another drink just in case I bottled it. I immediately got into a conversation with Anna and Aisling, spoke to Clare for ages, met Kirsty, Rebecca and Lucy S… Can’t wait to do it all over again.

Oh no another diary clash here too! :( Many of you may be aware of my slight Olympic obsession (#sportspervs) and on Friday the 14th September they is going to be a big parade through Glasgow to welcome back the Scottish members of TeamGB – Sir Chris Hoy I am looking at you!!! And Michael Jamieson!! And every single awe-inspiring athlete that is part of TeamGB – and I kind of have lose plans to be there screaming and stuff. Hmmm how definite are plans for a Northern meet?? xx

    • Posted August 16, 2012 at 3:37 pm | Permalink

I’m going to that too! I used to swim with Micheal Jamieson and his sister when I was at primary school – he wasn’t such a hottie back then though hehe ;-)

Would love to go to a Northern Meet Up! X

Zan, you’re looking decidedly peaky. Leave work early, you say?

Sorry that diary clashes have meant some of your can’t make it. Sad faces here, but delighted that the rest of you can :)

See that’d be fine, but we’ve totally got a very important inspection around that time, so I suspect I’ll be chained to my desk regardless!

Very much looking forward to AOP: The Northern Edition though!

I’m going to be half way up a mountain in Morocco for charity (either still on my feet or otherwise, given the not-so-existent training I’ve been doing) so will have to miss out this time. Fingers crossed I can make AOP3! I’m sure it will be a wonderful evening so enjoy you lucky folk who get to go!

I would agree with Esme. I LOVED the AOP last year. I ended up practically hyperventalating at at the blog celebs there last time. And ate about 30,000 cakes.

I can’t make it this time. The Boy is taking me away for my 30th (next year Lucy and I should TOTALLY have a joint birthday party) but I hope everyone has an amazeballs time.

I’d love to come… I’m due on 3rd sept tho so will either have v little baby with me or still be heavily pregnant… Hmm… Maybe should leave it to the next AOP, especially if it’s up North (though I second the idea of it being in the midlands..) but would really miss going to this AOP!! Maybe baby will come early & I could still come…. Either way hope all the ladies who do go have the most amazing time! Xxx

Nooooooooooo :( Got very depressed seeing this but then started to get excited seeing everyone (up til number 9) couldn’t make it either thinking maybe you’d HAVE to change it but sadly no – you will have plenty of guests. That sounds mean, sorry – yay, you’ll have loads of guests! I just don’t get to be one of them, boo! I am probably free too but can’t afford to take any more days off then as have lots of days off at the start of Sept for my parents visiting (not seen them since our wedding!) and if I’m not at work, I don’t get paid. :(

Bex, I’m in the same position. Off to Italy the start of September, and have lots of weddings coming up to, which are draining me of my money. Being self-employed can’t afford to take the time off work, not being paid. Also, after all my moaning about how tired / sickly I am with pregnancy, bound to cause much eye rolling from the husband, if I go down to London, to meet internet friends. I did the Florence Finds Manchester Meet Up, and this was just over an hours travel for afternoon tea, and caused a mountain of questions. Nevermind London. xx

  27. Posted August 17, 2012 at 3:20 am | Permalink

I was sneakily hoping it would be one of the two days in September that I’m in the UK. Oh well, I’ll just have to have a very small AOP: North American Edition.

CRAPADOO! I can’t make this date. I go on holiday on the Monday and so need to conserve money to buy Greek beer with. And that makes me sad. (please insert appropriate crying noises here).

…but my little ray of hope is the AOP: Northern Edition. Any clues being given on this front?

I’m gutted to miss this as am in Hong Kong until next August. BUT I promise to be at next year’s and will live vicariously through AOP on Twitter. I would utterly love to be there. AND at the Northern one. Would love nothing more than to meet you fabulous things, but live in hope of other great meet ups, such as the AOW book clubs and clothes swaps etc that get mooted here and there. Am reminding of one of Me Mammy’s regurgiated Irish blessings. “There are no strangers here, only friends you have yet to meet”.

Have a sip o’ gin fizz for me ladies

Just had to share- that’s the date of my wedding! :) Pretty sure it will be an awesome day in both Edinburgh and London with two such lovely events going on (vanity is allowed surrounding the occasion of one’s nuptials, I’m sure, and when reading that please assume your best internal “Jane Austen voice”). I also concur with the suggestions above for a more “Northerly” AOP….Scotland, anyone? :)

Anyone desperate for a Scottish meet up while we await AOP:The Northern Edition, there will be an update on my blog tomorrow about just such a thing! ;)

    Hi all,
It would be fab to come along and meet fellow members of the gorgeous AOW community, but I have a long-standing arrangement that evening. I’m going to see what I can do to rearrange, or if I can somehow swing going to both – but would need to know the location if I’m to work that out! If I can’t come have a wonderful time x

  35. Posted August 23, 2012 at 9:47 am | Permalink

Nerds I can’t make it. I shall be in the Northlands. Very jealous of all you lucky ladies!

Ooh this is a FAB idea – RSVPing now and looking forward to meeting you all then! x
