Gin in a Teacup: Four Brunettes and a Duckpond.

Last June, I got married. Our wedding was featured on Rock My Wedding in July and in August I met the delicious Anna K for the first time. By September Clare and I were e-mailing on a daily basis and in the New Year we hatched a plan to make Lucy our friend. Thankfully our plan was successful, Lucy didn’t think we were a pair of stalky-weirdos and soon we were all planning to get together and spend some time eating, drinking, laughing and posing for Lucy and her swanky camera. ‘Gin in a Teacup’ was born- it was whilst we were flinging e-mails back and forth with exclamations like ‘we’ll all wear white capri’s!’ and ‘there’ll be a dog!’ and ‘it’ll be like a bodyform advert!’- someone proclaimed that we would spend the weekend drinking gin from vintage china teacups and we had a name for our motley crew. E-mails from then on had the subject title ‘GiaT’ and it’ll stick forever methinks!

We planned and re-planned, getting Clare back into the UK on a weekend when we were all available proved tricky to say the least…then I had to break the news to Phil that he was being evicted for the weekend and Anna and Lucy had to make sure their boys would survive without them for a couple of days! House filled with food and train timetables confirmed, I set off to collect Clare, Lucy and Anna. And from the minute they got in the car, we were laughing. About bearded bikers called Lucy, terrorist catchers and husbands going into kennels…all before we’d even walked through the front door-it was looking like it was going to be a spectacular weekend. All the more so when Lucy threw a glass of champagne into a bowl of lettuce a mere half an hour into lunch. Champagne lettuce, it’s the new caviar, doncha know?!

I won’t chew your ears off with a written play-by-play, as you’d expect a lot of what went on was fairly ’you had to be there’. What we do want you to see though, is Lucy‘s photo-documentation of this epic weekend. Because, seriously, the girl in INCREDIBLE. So unbelievably talented and such a joy to be around-surely two qualities you want in a wedding photographer? Or indeed, a Love photographer?

You don’t want any more nonsense from me, you want to see the yummy pictures, yes? Ok. Here you go…

My beautiful blogging-partner-in-crime and one of my favourite people in the world-Clare.

I KNOW. Isn’t she just eye-wateringly stunning? Also achingly cool, completely awesome and owner of the worlds greatest cardigan. I love her.

One of my greatest achievements of 2010 (after weddings, blogging, promotions-other runofthemill stuff!) was befriending Mrs. Anna K. She’s just the best. At everything. Including being ridiculously photogenic.

There are also pictures of me…what with it being my house and all. Ack. Here you go.
We tried and we tried and we tried to get Lucy in front of the camera ALL weekend-she really wasn’t having any of it. Pfft. We’re unsure as to whether she’s actually camera-shy or just didn’t want any of us touching her posh camera…(Lucy-it wasn’t any of us throwing champagne over lettuce!) On Sunday morning she did let Anna have a little go pressing buttons, it isn’t as easy as it looks! Here is the maestro herself…

Loveliness incarnate. And to celebrate Lucy a bit more, here’s some more prettiness. After which, if you haven’t already-go see her latest Love Shoot. Drooooooooooool…..

Amazingness. Who wants to come play on the next weekend?

Great photos and you are all stunners! I love hearing about virtual friendships via blogs becoming real ones. It happens a lot with the American artists i follow and i would love to be able to hook up with fellow arty types especially in the states but being stuck in Ireland i just have to make do with reading about it. Sigh!

You are all so pretty. I chuckled at the sending your husbands to the kennels comment. Lucy, if I hadnt already booked my wedding photographer, I would certainly be contacting you. You are super talented.

Oh my giddy aunt, what a weekend it was! This is a brilliant writeup. Shows how much fun it was but also points out that we're all a little bit mentally unhinged. In a good way. I just wish we had more photos of Lucy. Next GIAT I'm going to follow her around with a camera, hiding in the long grass.

Meeeeeeee! I hope you are currently accepting blondes, to complement your quartet of brunettes. I like duck ponds. And teacups. And gin. Especially gin.

And I am so relived to hear Lucy threw a glass of champagne into a bowl of lettuce – it's usually (ok, always) me who is sending receptacles flying around the dining table within five minutes of sitting down. Sigh. It's hard being clumsy, you know.

Also, can I just say, the four of you are so beautiful! Too much pretty – Lucy is ridiculously talented.

(And one last thing – Aisling, WHERE did you get your denim jacket? I am on the hunt for one just like it. Ta!)

    xx
