On becoming a wife {The Ceremony}

Crisp cold afternoon with still crunchy grass.  A mess of grey silk and flowers and antique lace, as three best friends hold one another tightly. Deep breaths and giggles. A moment when I am stepping from one life into another – the same yet different. Emotion climbing up from the pit of my stomach and emerging as a sob. Tears and tulle work together as a team to blur my vision. Smiling, adoring eyes and the tightly clasped hands of couples, draw me in. My father’s hand there to guide and slow me, as always.
Hands gripped so tightly it hurts, and secret smiles sending messages that only one person can decode. Vows and promises to be devoted and to adore. Exchanging of rings with clumsy fingers and swollen hearts. A kiss to last a lifetime, and applause drowns out the first notes of the hymn.
Singing, and prayers, and friends reading aloud. Time to reflect and rejoice, and to grin at each other like children who share a thrilling secret, never to be told.
Turning from each other, to see a room full of delight and pride. Our friends, our families, our confidantes, our comrades – the room is full of our supporters, our playmates, and our partners in crime. Yet another mix of emotions pour themselves our of me, and I rush to hug, and hold, and be close to everyone who was there for us.
We emerge from the church as we expected we would. The same. But definitely different.

    When I read the text I thought…gorgeous. But is that all she's going to say?

    LWLM is right…those pictures are PHENOMENAL. You are a bridal knockout, so is your husband, and the pictures speak volumes. Best ceremony photos I have ever seen x

    Beautifully poetic words that made me tingle and think of our day- very different from yours but with the same thoughts and emotions. Your photos are stunning-littlewifetolittlemama is right they tell the story perfectly. You looked so beautiful and happy and your new husband looks like the cat that got the cream, as he should!

    Radiant dahhling, loving these photos.

    You know that bit of your dress from the knee down is probably the most beautiful bit of lace I've ever seen. The rest of your dress is pretty darn hot too and I love how all your guests are huddled together/hugging through your ceremony. x

    I have said much about these photos, but there is so much more to say. I NEVER tire of looking at them, such is their timeless elegance and understated beauty.

    Lucy-you're SO right about the bottom of the dress! It's the weight of the lace…or something! So beautiful. It felt beautiful too-as much as that sounds wierd-I love the feel of heavy, corded lace! Yum.

    I love the walking down the aisle shots so much, a benefit of a church with a nice, long aisle!

    And the peeking shot of you and Andy through your congregation-awesome. There are some unforgettable shots in there-very cleverly captured.

    So, I like your pictures. True fact.

    x
